Lot 12018:
Mauser CE42 8mm
The CE code would indicate that this Mauser was manufactured by JP Sauer and Sohn Gewehrfabrik, Suhl (early type) in 1942. The slanted script on the “CE” indicates that this was an early 1942 manufacture. This is an interesting Mauser as it has an Armour repair on the bottom of the hand guard. As with many of these rifles, the stocks were repaired (noted in the "Backbone of the Wehrmacht" reference book) and put back into service and as a result the barrel bands and trigger guards are not numbered. Rifle barrel is shiny and has defined lands and grooves. Nazi-style eagles and Waffenamts are intact. Rifle includes an original WWII Mauser sling and a 1942 dated cof (Carl Eickhorn 1940-45) bayonet with scabbard. Bolt serial matches its self. Scabbard is not numbered. If you are a collector or just looking for the real deal, it’s all here! Action SN: 9762, Bayonet SN: 7821. Please see photos.
