Lot 113:
Joseph Manton Percussion Cap
RARE ALERT!!! For those that know who Joseph Manton is and his story, you’ll know this is a very rare firearm that warrants a fair amount of research. Produced before 1904 (has old Birmingham proof mark "BPC"), this firearm has "Joseph Manton Warranted" on the right side of the wrist and appears to be the improved version of the percussion cap that utilizes his tube lock system. This style of rifle (or "fowler") was made in the transitional period between flintlock and percussion cap. The end of the bore is 17.5mm wide (otherwise known as .69 CAL). The wood furniture has held up very well and it comes with a perfectly fitted ram rod. Please do your research and please see photos.
